3 Auto Insurance Questions You Should Know The Answers To

Insurance Blog

Are you shopping around for auto insurance and calling different providers in your area? If so, you are going to want to know the answers to these questions.

Will Your Auto Insurance Provide Coverage For Rental Cars?

A common concern when getting a rental car is if you already have coverage from your auto insurance provider. After all, nobody wants to pay for insurance twice if it is not necessary. The answer to this question varies from provider to provider, so you'll need to check to make sure that you have rental car coverage. However, in some situations, it is common for rental car insurance to be provided when you have comprehensive and collision coverage. For instance, insurance providers tend to provide coverage when their vehicle is being repaired for a qualifying reason by making a claim. You usually do not have insurance for things like renting a moving truck or renting a vehicle while you are on vacation.

What Is PIP Coverage?

Your insurance provider may offer you personal injury protection coverage, often referred to as PIP coverage. This is a bit different from personal liability coverage, which is used to pay for injuries that you cause the other driver and their passengers. There will be a coverage limit for personal liability coverage, and you could be held responsible for medical bills beyond your coverage limits. PIP coverage is for your own bodily injuries and the injuries to people riding in your vehicle. There is a limit to how much money will be paid using PIP coverage, and the limit can be quite small. The purpose of having it is to avoid using your health insurance coverage for minor injuries, which may have a large deductible or co-pay associated with it.

What Happens If You Cancel Your Auto Insurance?

Your car insurance premium guarantees the rate that you pay for auto insurance during a set period of time, typically six months. The auto insurer cannot cancel your policy during this time, and can only do so once you reach your renewal period. However, you are allowed to cancel the policy at any time if you want to. You would receive a prorated refund based on the amount of time left on your insurance policy, which you would typically receive in the form of a check that you get in the mail. This allows you to switch auto insurance providers whenever you want.

Preparing for the Future

Ten years ago, I married my best friend in a beautiful, intimate ceremony. My husband and I have been nearly inseparable and we’ve enjoyed this special time in our lives where it has been just the two of us. However, we’re finally ready to have a baby. Because I only work part-time, my husband is the primary financial provider in the family. If something ever happened to him, I wouldn’t be able to instantly support myself and a child. Because my husband worries about an uncertain future, he is considering purchasing a larger life insurance policy. On this blog, I hope you will discover the best types of life insurance policies for young parents to invest in. Enjoy!
